Key Biodiversity Area 3
This area stretches over four parks, with high quality revegetation and small but important remnant zones.
Located in the north-east Adelaide Park Lands, the target ecological community for KBA 3 is Eucalyptus porosa (Mallee Box) Woodland.
This community is commonly made up of Mallee Box, Red Mallee, and Southern Cypress Pine overstorey, with several Acacia species, Desert Senna, and Sticky Hopbush in the midstorey, and a diverse understorey.
When visiting KBA 3, keep an eye out for native butterflies and reptiles and, if visiting at dusk, you may catch a glimpse of Adelaide’s microbats.
By protecting and enhancing this area, we can restore ecological processes and improve habitat, providing a healthier environment for all living organisms, including us humans.
