Key Biodiversity Area 2
This area is a mosaic of remnant and reconstructed vegetation communities.
Located in the south-west Adelaide Park Lands, the target ecological community for KBA 2 is Eucalyptus microcarpa (Grey Box) / E. leucoxylon (SA Blue Gum) Woodland with Eucalyptus porosa (Mallee Box) Woodland in the west.
The full-sun grasslands in this area are home to several species of conservation significance, including Swollen Spear-grass and Narrow-leaf New Holland Daisy, while the Mallee Box community supports at least four species of Acacia, as well as Native Apricot.
When visiting KBA 2, keep an eye out for native butterflies including the rare Chequered Copper.
By protecting and enhancing this area, we can restore ecological processes and improve habitat, providing a healthier environment for all living organisms, including us humans.
