Key Biodiversity Area 1
Located in the south-eastern Adelaide Park Lands, within Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) and Carriageway Park / Tuthangga (Park 17).
This area hosts a great variety of landscapes ranging from full-sun grasslands, open and closed woodlands, creeks, and wetlands.
Located in the south-eastern Adelaide Park Lands, the target ecological community for KBA 1 is Eucalyptus microcarpa (Grey Box) / E. leucoxylon (SA Blue Gum) Woodland.
This community is commonly made up of Grey Box, SA Blue Gum, and River Red Gum overstorey, with several Acacia species, Drooping Sheoak, Sweet Bursaria, and Yacca in the midstorey, and a grassy understorey.
When visiting KBA 1, keep an eye out for native lilies and sorrel, as well as butterflies and (an ear out for) frogs.
By protecting and enhancing this area, we can restore ecological processes and improve habitat, providing a healthier environment for all living organisms, including us humans.
