Susan Clearihan
Susan Clearihan was elected a North Ward Councillor of the City of Adelaide in 2003 and served her community in this role until 2018. She was Deputy Lord Mayor in 2007–2008. She represented Council on the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, the Board of Education Adelaide and the North Adelaide Community Centre Management Committee.
Clearihan was appointed interim President of the Local Government Association between June-October 2018, and since 2006 has served on the Board of Directors of the Adelaide Cemeteries Authority. Before entering local government, Clearihan was a teacher with 25 years’ experience.
She also worked as Education Officer at the Art Gallery of South Australia during which time she authored a monograph entitled, Half the Sky: Exhibition of Works on Paper by Australian Women Artists (1985). Clearihan officiated at many exhibition launches during her time with Council, supporting Adelaide’s creative industries and cultural economy.
