Professor Judith Brine AM
Professor Judith Brine AM (1937-), architect, town planner and academic, was a City of Adelaide Councillor from 1998–2007. She joined the University of Adelaide in 1972 as a Lecturer in Architecture, becoming Senior Lecturer in 1978, followed by senior academic roles at the University of Canberra.
In 1997 Brine was appointed Executive Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, Law, Architecture and Urban Design, Commerce, and Economics, and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Adelaide. She advised Federal, State and Territory governments in heritage and planning and also served on the Board of the ACT Electricity and Water Commission and the South Australian Environment and Development Court.
In 1998 Brine was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for service to architecture, planning and heritage conservation. She is a pioneer in her field as a woman who held senior leadership roles in a male dominated industry.
