Please Say Please sees benefits from Outdoor Activation Grant
Amongst the hustle and bustle of the CBD is Grenfell Street café Please Say Please. A hit with city commuters and residents, the café serves up a suite of delicious snacks and coffee each weekday.
When applications for the City of Adelaide Outdoor Activation Grant opened, Please Say Please owner Tony De Blasio didn’t hesitate to apply to introduce his customers to a new outdoor dining experience.
“Our café space is quite small, so we were looking for a way to have more customers be able to dine in rather than take away. Having owned the business for nearly three years now, I love talking to our customers and it was a priority to be able to give them more space to enjoy their coffee,” said Tony.
The Outdoor Activation Grant allowed Tony to implement an outdoor dining area on Grenfell Street featuring tables, chairs and partitions.
“We’ve seen more customers come through the door since implementing the area and they love using the space especially when the weather is good!”
Tony was also able to give the exterior of his shop front a new coat of paint and install a new roller door to safely lock up the café at the end of each day.
In 2020, to support businesses hit hard by COVID-19, the Outdoor Activation Grant was launched allowing businesses to enhance and activate their outdoor areas; supporting jobs and driving patronage.
The Outdoor Activation Grant was funded by the State Government of South Australia and administered by the City of Adelaide.
