Linda Kirk
Linda Kirk (1967-) was elected Councillor of the City of Adelaide 1998-2000. An Australian Labor Party member, Kirk was elected in 2001 as a Senator for South Australia in the Federal Parliament, where she served as a member of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Committee and as Deputy Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Migration.
Kirk was Opposition Deputy Whip in the Senate from July 2005 - December 2007, retiring from the Senate in June 2008. An expert in migration law, she completed a Master of Laws degree with the University of Cambridge in 1993 and holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours degree (1991) and a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting) from the University of Adelaide (1990).
Currently Kirk is Associate Professor UNSW Law at the University of New South Wales, Senior Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, having worked as Lecturer in Law at the University of Adelaide (1994-2001).
