Guidelines for Circular Adelaide
How to join
- The business or organisation must be customer facing. (e.g. retail, hospitality, co-working/co-leasing, whole-food outlets, active transport businesses, repair stores and recycling facilities.)
- The business or organisation activity is 50% or more regenerative or circular, or
- The business or organisation is actively engaged in two or more CE activities. (e.g. recycles their food waste and/or goes beyond the three-bin system, use repurposed furniture or serving ware, actively plans menu to minimise waste, provides on-site bike parking, are 100% single-use plastic free, are carbon neutral certified, design things to last or eliminate waste, provides discounts for patrons who bring reusables.
- The business or organisation can be categorised into one or more of the following categories:
- This category showcases businesses and organisations who offer alteration services, repair advice and services, or offer products that are designed to be repairable.
E.g. Tailoring/alteration services, shoe and clothing repairs, furniture restoration, retailers with repair/buy back services and skill sharing.
- This category showcases businesses and organisations that facilitate sharing, provide package-free or plastic-free options, or create durable, reusable and/or repairable products.
E.g. Packaging free groceries, plastic free dining, reusables provided, borrow, hire, share
- This category showcases businesses and organisations that help keep materials and products in circulation by extending their useful life through resale.
E.g. Second-hand household items, second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories, and upcycling initiatives.
- This category showcases businesses and organisations that are investing in renewable technologies, reducing emissions, growing community, and sharing their knowledge about how to do so with others.
E.g. Services and activities like information sharing and community gardens.
- This category showcases businesses and organisations which prioritise purchasing products with recycled content and seek out suppliers who actively take part in the circular economy. It also includes those that recycle what they can or provide a way for you to recycle items that cannot go in kerbside bins.
- Drop off locations, cafes and restaurants which recycle food waste, other business types which recycle their main waste streams, regenerative or low/no waste businesses.
